You'll get put away talking to yourself like that Ali. ;D ;D
Anyway sorry I'm a bit late.Stormin was a great weekend.
Friday night's bands were Diablo,The Wildcats of Kilkenny,Sticky Fingers and The Quireboys,Not forgetting Prognosis who were on in the smaller marquee. We caught the tail end of Diablo who blasted out songs by The Kaiser Chiefs,The Killers and The Stereophonics and managed to warm the crowd up for the Wildcats who unfortunately weren't my cup of horlicks at all so we skipped over to watch Prognosis who were on in the Iris tent. These lads are great performers and the sound was spot on.A great set which lasted 2 hours plus.
After the Progs has finished we headed back to the main tent to catch Sticky Fingers who gave a great performance.Totally rocking the crowd into a frenzy of Priest,Sabbath,Whitesnake and even the Sex pistols. for The headline act.
The Quireboys.Well!.............I'm a newly converted fan.I'd heard a couple of tracks by them in the past and they didn't do that much for me.Ali is a secret fan and she said that she was going to Stormin just to see The Quireboys so I thought "Hold on they must be ok".
Well I have to say they were more than ok.We'd heard them soundchecking earlier in the afternoon and they were canny but Spike the singer is a great frontman.Full to the brim with charisma and they rocked from beginning to end.I'd definitely go and see them again.I was well impressed.
Saturday's bands were Skinflint,The Bandits and UFO.
Well what to say about 'The Flint'? Well they came on and rocked the joint.Anyone who has seen Skinflint will know that they deliver the goods 100% and play totally in yer face Metaaaaaaaaaaaaaal. Metallica,Priest,Ozzy,to name a few and my favourite 'Wicked Game 'along with their own songs,The lads were brimming with confidence and played their socks off to a great appreciative crowd.Band of the night for me IMO.
The Bandits were up next and these lads are also vastly underrated.Bad Bob,Whalebone and Brad let rip with some crackin slide Rhythm and Blues tracks that would make your ears start dancing from stuff like Dr Feelgood to the Kings of Leon. They played a blinder and the tent was jumping.
UFO were up to finish the night off.I was really looking forward to seeing UFO so we kept our place down at the front to catch the action.
The band came on stage looking a bit worse for wear. Pete Way on bass was totally trashed on some kind of substance and when Phil Mogg appeared it looked like someone had just woke him up.
Anyway they crashed into the set(Literally ;D) and played all the well known songs like Lights out,Only you can rock me,Rock Bottom,Doctor Doctor,Shoot Shoot etc........ and they played them really well.
Man of the night was Vinnie Moore on guitar who was the most on form out of them all.His guitar work was stunning and made the rest of the band sound great. All the guitarists in the audience were drooling at his solo's which were really tasteful. He was great with the crowd too.A true pro.
I thought the Drummer Andy Parker was canny too.He was tight as a nuns chuff and had a great kit.
Pete Way was so off his head he ended up falling over on Too hot to Handle and spent the whole song on his back.Apart from the fact he looked terrible his playing was shabby and he dropped so many clangers I was waiting for the Soup Dragon to appear. ;D
Phil Mogg looked like he belonged in a rest home.Hanging on to his mic stand for his life and not very crowd friendly. He sang the songs well but his audience interaction was minimal to say the least so a bit disapointing.
Apart from the bands The company was great. The custom bike show was canny even though I just saw the end. There was some great stalls,The food was good but a tad expensive I thought and there was a fairground.I was dying for a shot on the dodgems but I'll leave that til next year. ;D ;D
If I've missed anything out I'm sure Kev or Ali will add their bit.
